Things are looking good for Chrysler these days. Sales are on the up across its range of brands, RAM trucks are getting more power, and the Jeep brand keeps racking up the praise. Plus that new 300 is pretty easy on the eyes, too. But that's not really a change of pace, is it?

Just to make sure that new Chrysler models continue to keep their good looks, the automaker is adding a 425,000-square-foot paint plant onto its Sterling Heights, Michigan assembly facility. Sure it's a ways off from our Ithaca area Chrysler dealership, but it still carries quite a bit of weight with our Cortland Chrysler Jeep RAM Dodge staff.

After all, just a couple years back the headlines had quite a different tone when speaking about American car makers. Moreover, the very same plant that's getting additions today was close to closing the doors for good back in 2010.

Here we are, a few bold moves later, and Chrysler is ramping up production, adding 450 new employees, and investing more in local manufacturing. As far as the details are concerned we only know that the painting facility is about 85 percent complete. However, Chrysler won't reveal which models will be primed and readied inside.

We recently heard that the Jeep Wrangler is getting decked out with some new colors. Perhaps they'll be the first to put the new plant to use. All we can be sure of is that Chrysler is one durable brand, and we're glad to be a part of it.

To stay up on the latest news, including more about production and new models, keep an eye on our Chrysler blog. To get a look at those paint jobs after they've dried, stop into our Ithaca, NY area dealership and we'd be happy to give you a close-up view.
