Perhaps you've heard the news that new diesel powertrain and new fuel-saving 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine options will be available in the next-generation Jeep Wrangler, but do you know why? Apparently, the Wrangler weighs a hefty 1,000 lbs. more than the brand's next heaviest vehicle, the Jeep Grand Cherokee, and it's important to keep the vehicle's iconic style while also making it fuel-efficient enough for today's buyers. In other words, the next-generation Wrangler could receive quite a few edits.

Jeep brand fans can expect to see hints of its heritage in future vehicles (including the Wrangler). For example, "Since 1941" is stamped in the current Wrangler model's passenger grab bar and the steering wheel of the new Jeep Grand Cherokee. Lead designer for the Wrangler model, Mark Allen, boasts, "There [are] these little messages. We're quite proud of our brand and its very humble beginnings. Today's Wrangler - it's obvious to me, and to Jeep people, it looks like our very first product. The lineage is clear. Not many people can do that." He also adds, "I can't imagine putting the Model T on a [Ford] Taurus."1

The next- generation Jeep Wrangler is expected to make its debut as a 2015 model, so we'll likely see it sometime next year. And, we should receive quite a few updates surrounding the new model soon! In the meantime, the current new Jeep models available here at Cortland Chrysler Jeep Dodge RAM, serving the Cortland, NY area, are quite impressive, so don't hesitate to contact us online or by phone with any new car finance questions you may have.
